In
1983 we purchased our first pair of ducks Chiloe Wigeon, this was very soon
followed by Wood Ducks, Cinnamon Teal and White Faced Tree Ducks .
In 1984 we attended a seminar at the WWT Slimbridge and decided then to help in
a conservation programme of certain waterfowl and over the years we have had
great success in breeding two types of Wildfowl that are threatened in the wild. This has now increased to 4.
Although this is only a hobby it has taken over the whole garden
and everything we do in it is 'duck friendly'. The garden is 80' x 50' and is
surrounded by a fox proof fence. In the garden are 6 ponds and streams and 2
aviaries one of which holds Avocets, Hottentot
Teal and Lilac Breasted Rollers.
