Carolina Wood Duck (Aix sponsa).

One pair in the main garden.  The head and long crest of the male are a mixture of metallic greens, blues and violets. The feathers on the sides of the head are short and velvety. The chin and throat are white with a mantle iridescent blue.  The wings are of metallic blues, greens and blacks.  The female will normally nest in a raised box but will also use a ground box (when she feels like it).  The egg clutch size is 9-14 ivory white eggs.
